In the past, new technologies were not always accompanied by purely functional buildings; architecture often celebrated the progress they brought. The control room of the Bille power plant in Hamburg, which began operating around 1900, is a particularly striking example of the effort made to create an environment that matched the innovation. How important is the 'beauty' of a functional building, such as a power plant, to you today? Are there any examples that stand out to you? #FlashbackFriday ?? Siemens Historical Institute

#MondayMood When Matthew explains to his daughter that he is working on commissioning gas turbines, “She seems to think it's some kind of robot” ?? Even if his daughter doesn't quite understand what his work entails, Matthew is proud to be play an important role in meticulously checking gas turbines before they are deployed around the world, helping our efforts towards a more resilient and cleaner energy supply!

When you arrive at the office, do you check what's for lunch in the canteen that day? And have you ever thought about how the food gets onto your plate? ?? We have factories and offices in more than 90 countries. And wherever we are, we have hungry employees! ???? So we accompanied one of our canteen chefs, Fabian, who has to conjure up something different every day for the #TeamPurple colleagues in Mulheim. Take a look for yourself!

#FlashbackFriday at the roots of power generation: This 1921 vintage ad from C.A. Parsons & Co., Ltd. features two women working on the insulation of a large electric alternator, an essential part of early power station equipment. From reaction steam turbines to turbo-blowers and compressors, this legacy of engineering excellence continues to inspire us at Siemens Energy as we drive the energy transition forward. Look at the ad itself. ?? Marketing worked hard even in the early days, crafting powerful stories through powerful machines. ?? What’s your favorite piece of energy history? Share it with us in the comments!

#WednesdayWisdom Working to transform the energy landscape means working with great people! And it isn’t just about who you know - it’s about how you grow together. ??? And Alan gives some great advice! It is important to get to you know your colleagues, lean on them and get involved in everything. Whether it’s a quick chat, a project, or a mentorship, every connection can spark something bigger. ??

Christian Bruch you are catching us up!??? We are so pleased to see the support for, and engagement with the conversations about energy transformation and energizing societies.
It’s not something I track too closely – but seeing this network grow to include over 100,000 people did make me pause for a moment. ? Not because of the number itself, but because of what it reflects: That there’s genuine interest in the questions around energy – and in the energy transformation that’s picking up speed everywhere, with Siemens Energy right at the heart of it. ? Thank You for following. For reading, engaging, and being part of the ongoing exchange. ? And since this feels like a good moment, if there’s something you’ve always wanted to ask or raise – about energy, change or other related topics – drop it in the comments. ?? ? I’ll pick a few and respond in a short video over the next weeks.?Stay tuned – and thank you again.

Today's #FlashbackFriday looks at the evolution of performance: While the twin compound steam engine built at our G?rlitz plant around 125 years ago could generate around 0.2 megawatts of electrical power, even our smallest aeroderivative gas turbine achieves 155 times that amount, namely 31.8 MW. Our HL Class gas turbine would even replace 2,879 of these historic gems. Where will this journey take us? Will there ever be a technical limit, or is there still room for improvement?
